Where to start?

No need to have read any philosophy.

It is enough to have wondered what a machine really understands, or what will be left for us to do. Here is a path in five steps, a few minutes each.

1

Step 1 · 3 min

Choose a question

The whole site comes down to four questions. Pick the one that speaks to you most, without overthinking it: it is usually the right door.

2

Step 2 · 5 min

Read a short essay

An essay does not give an answer: it circles a question to bring it into focus. Start with the most concrete one, about what we will never want to hand over to a machine.

3

Step 3 · 2 min

Play: human or machine?

A short text, a single question: who wrote it? You vote; we will never tell you the answer. It is the simplest way to feel what is at stake.

4

Step 4 · 3 min

Learn a word

When a word stops you, the glossary explains it in a few lines, with examples. The first one to know: the Turing test.

5

Step 5 · 10 min

Read a great text

To go further, the library presents the founding texts in plain words. Turing’s, written in 1950, still reads like a conversation.

And then?

Come back whenever you like. This site is not trying to convince you: it asks questions, and leaves the answers to you.
