Human or machine? · no. 1
Before everyone else
I get up before everyone else. Not out of discipline: it is the only hour when nobody expects anything of me. The kitchen is cold; the city has not yet decided what it will be today.
I do not write, I open nothing. I watch the window turn from black to blue, unable to say at what exact moment it changed. There is probably a word for it. I would rather not look for it. If I found it, I think I would stop seeing it.

Why never answer?
Because it is the question this site exists to ask. Since Turing, we have known that, even among humans, we have never had any access to other minds beyond what they write and what they do.
Revealing the answer would turn an exercise in reading into a guessing game. Without an answer, there is only the text, and what we think we recognise in it. The votes say nothing about the author; they say a great deal about us.
